A Frame.io alternative for videographers and small studios

Proofbin is a Frame.io alternative built for videographers and small studios. The biggest difference is how you pay: Frame.io's paid plans are priced per member, and Proofbin is one flat price per workspace with everyone on your team included. Proofbin also gives each client a branded portal, and approved cuts copy themselves to your own drive.

Last checked: October 2026. Every Frame.io fact below comes from its own pricing page.

A pipeline, not a storage locker

Your files already live somewhere: your own drive, your client's drive, the folders you have used for years. Proofbin is built to move the work through to them, not to become one more place you have to clean out.

  • Approval starts the copy. When a client approves a cut, Proofbin copies it on its own to the Google Drive folder you picked for that client, at the size you delivered it, by the next morning. You can also log it in Notion.
  • Your client can bring their own drive. From their portal link, with no account, a client can connect their own Google Drive or Notion, and their approved cuts are filed there.
  • No downloading and uploading by hand. Nobody exports the approved file, waits for it to download and drags it into another folder. You set the folder once per client and approval does the rest.
  • Older work catches up. Connect a drive today and the cuts you already approved in Proofbin are copied too. It works during the free trial.

Why studios switch to Proofbin

  • The bill does not grow with the team. Add a second editor, a producer or an assistant and the price stays the same.
  • Each client gets their own portal. One link that keeps working, with the client's name, logo and colors on it.
  • The whole job lives in one place. Review, the calendar, the chats and the tasks for a job sit together, so nothing is loose in your email.
  • Approved work files itself. Every approved cut is copied to the client's folder on your drive, or theirs, on its own.
  • You can try it without a card. The 14-day trial asks for no billing details at all.

And the reason to stay where you are: you already paid for the year.

What Proofbin adds around the review

These are the parts that are not about the player. They are why we built it: the review was never what went wrong on our jobs, it was everything around it.

  • A portal per client. One link per client that keeps working. It carries the client's name, logo and colors, and the cut you add next month lands in the same link you sent them today. The client needs no account and no password, and approves without leaving the page.
  • Notes your client can point with. Notes pinned to the exact frame, drawings on the frame, and voice notes.
  • Versions over the same frame. v2 side by side with v1, or a wipe between them, with the earlier notes alongside.
  • Photo galleries from the same link. Turn any client folder into a gallery and deliver the stills in the same portal as the video.
  • A calendar that moves with the job. Drag a job to a new day and its due dates move with it.
  • Chats and tasks on the job. Messages and steps hang off the job they belong to. A client message can become a job with a due date.
  • An iPhone app. Review, chat and the calendar go with you to the shoot.

Moving over without stopping work

  1. Start with new jobs. Put the next job that comes in through Proofbin from the first cut.
  2. Set up the client once. Add the client's name, logo and colors, and send them their portal link. Every cut you add to their portal shows up in that same link.
  3. Connect your drive. Point the client at a folder on a drive you own, and approved cuts start copying there. Work you already approved in Proofbin catches up too.
  4. Bring the team. Invite your editors and producer. Nobody adds to the bill.
